For a college trip I went to the 23 Trickfilm-Festival in Stuttgart, Germany.
The best presentation I attended was an animator who worked at the animation company Laika. Laika Entertainment, LLC. is an American stop-motion animation studio specializing in feature films, commercial content for all media, music videos and short films.
The animator talked in depth about the every day life of an animation company and the role in which each department dealt with. This first hand account of the indusrty helped me to understand the realities of a job in animation, the structure in which a competitive company with indusrty has to operate to be successful.

What the lectures also taught me is that the indusrty is highly competitive and hard to break into however there are opportunities (such as intern-ships) available. Animators and artist have to be willing to move to where the opportunities are for example in Europe or the United States.

Ultimately the experience was positive and highlighted that having an artistic preference in animation can work, different studios provide different services. Having an open mind and a hard working and postive attuitude will help me in my future carrer in the creative indusrty.
